An area rug is a great way to bring some color, pattern and life into a space- but what happens when you have wall-to-wall carpeting? You may think you need hardwood floors to use an area rug but that is not the case! If you have a light, neutral wall-to-wall carpet you can absolutely use an area rug to bring some excitement into your space. I searched the whole world wide web for some great uses of area rugs on top of carpeting and I think you will be surprised how good it can look!
This neutral on neutral works because of the change in texture!

The graphic pattern of this area rug really breaks up what could be a very neutral space.

And this room is just grey perfection!
And I love the graphic element the area rug brings to this bedroom

What do you guys think- do you like it or still on the fence?
I love the look but fear the kids (or me) will be tripping over the rug;)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean :-) I think its good to choose a rug that isn't too thick and using it in a lower traffic area, bedrooms are a great place for them!
