My Baby Registry Favorites

I can't believe it! My baby turns 9 months old today!  How did this happen already?  How are we already talking 1st birthday... in 3 months?!  Time has been absolutely flying by.  I feel like those first few months were sooooo slow and then all of the sudden he was sitting up on his own, eating finger foods and crawling everywhere!

Now before I get all weepy I thought in honor of him turning 9 months I would share a few of my favorite items from my registry.  I registered for a lot of stuff but these were my absolute favorites that I used daily!

Must Have Baby Registry Items Shopping List

Solly Baby Wrap:  I can honestly say I would not have survived those first couple of months without this wrap.  Derek did not want to be put down (as do most newborns) and with his reflux he did best being upright.  I would put him in the wrap and suddenly had two free hands and a very happy baby.  Baby wearing has been proven to be so beneficial for both baby and mom and I loved how lightweight and portable this wrap was.  It was also the middle of summer so the lightweight cotton was perfect for keeping both of us comfortable.  Lifesaver.

Graco Glider Lite LX Swing:  We didn't have much luck with our (very expensive) Mamaroo but when we tried out this swing it was instant lights out for him.  He loved napping in it and I loved that it had a small footprint.

Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets:  Super handy to keep one of these large, soft cotton blankets in your diaper bag.  We used it as a blanket, changing pad, play mat, and burp cloth.  I think the only thing we didn't use it for was actually swaddling.  He broke free every time but more on that later...

Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown Chic Diaper Bag: I love this diaper bag because it's got a lot of pockets to organize all of our stuff but still looks like a fashionable handbag.  I especially love the gold accents on it.  They now have a backpack version of this bag now which I can see being super useful when he's walking and on the move.  Right now you can score this bag for 20% off using code "SWEETHEART" on the SkipHop website!

Aden + Anais Easy Swaddle:  Like I said earlier- we just couldn't get a good tight swaddle with the blankets and he was constantly breaking free and waking up.  Also- not something you want to be messing around with in the middle of the night.  The easy swaddle made it... well, easy.  Just a couple of snaps and he was snug as a bug.

4Moms Infant Tub:  This bath is awesome!  It has a temperature gauge on it, a comfy little mat for the baby to lean against and it lets clean water in while letting the dirty water out.  Genius.

Covered Goods Multi Use Cover:  I loved using this cover for the car seat.  It was lightweight and easy to keep in my diaper bag and made a nice little cocoon for when he was sleeping in the car seat or for deterring unwanted baby oogling when you're out in public.  You can use it for nursing, as a highchair or shopping cart cover or wear it as an infinity scarf.  They come in a lot of fun prints too!

UppaBaby Vista Stroller System:  Last but not least my stroller!  I loved using the bassinet to take him on walks around the neighborhood and now that he's bigger he loves sitting in the seat- which can face towards you or face out.  The super large basket on the bottom is great for shopping and we had the Mesa carseat so it was easy to snap that in and out too.  You can also add a second chair or bassinet to it!

Happy Friday everyone!

Weekend Recap

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  I thought I'd try something new today and share with you all what I did over the weekend- a little peek into my world- and a chance to show off some of my favorite local places.

I started Saturday by trying out a new yoga studio in Villanova, Bulldog Yoga.  Classes were free this weekend so I figured why not.  It was also a chance to try out these fun new leggings.

The studio was super gorge and the class was fast paced and set to music with actual words, not the usual chanting stuff.  I'm not super into yoga but I do like a more athletic style class that makes me feel like I'm getting a great workout while giving me a chance to clear my head a little and this class was perfect for that.  I love the concrete floors and industrial lights!  I'll definitely be back to try out their yoga class set to Hip Hop/Rap music.

Saturday night we celebrated my husbands grandmother's 92nd birthday at my in-laws.  We just started Derek with more solid foods and he can't get enough of it.  He loves being able to feed himself  and so far the only thing he didn't like was peas.  To be fair- I don't really like peas either.

Sunday I took a boot camp class at my favorite fitness studio Tone Zone.  They offer all sorts of classes but the boot camp style classes are by far my favorite.  They always push me to work way harder than I would do on my own and I leave knowing I got my butt properly kicked in the best way possible.

Are you picking up on a recurring theme?  I only work out at places that have good design ;-)

I spent the rest of Sunday with my family and shopping for home things with my sister for her new place.  We were low on time but we got in a quick spin around Pottery Barn and West Elm.  If you follow me on instagram @olivelaneinteriors you saw this pic already but I'm basically in love with this grouping of pillows at Pottery Barn.

Is it just me or has Pottery Barn totally stepped up their game?  I used to be like "oh. yeah.  that's from Pottery Barn"  but now I'm all like "that's from Pottery Barn?!"  Know what I mean?... Anyways, hope you all had a fun weekend and hooray for a new week!

Transitional Master Bedroom E-Design

Really excited to be sharing this transitional master bedroom I designed today!
I love how it mixes new and traditional styles with the room feeling more "collected" than brand new out of the box.  Added bonus- the total cost for this room comes in right under $5k!

Vintage Style Rugs

I love the look of a vintage rug!  They work with so many different styles- traditional, transitional, modern and they add so much visual interest to a room!  But if you're like me you don't always have the time to search vintage shops for the perfect rug or pay the sometimes hefty price tag.

Design Trend: Shiplap

At the start of each new year there's a lot of chatter about what will the design trends be that year and what will be "out".  One trend I started to see a lot of in 2015 and I think will explode in 2016 is shiplap!  Shiplap is long boards applied to the wall as a decorative paneling.

And while it's nothing new in the world of construction it is becoming a huge trend in decorating.
HGTV

It can be used in a shabby chic/ rustic way or as it's starting to grow in popularity, I'm seeing it replacing wainscoting in transitional and modern decor.

Not usually a fan of really dark walls, but this slate color works great with the stark white - also love the shiplap wall treatment:

I love it being used as an accent wall.

Is shiplap the new wainscoting?  Probably not but get ready to see it everywhere this year!

Obsessed with Blue and White

I am still loving a fresh blue and white combo.  Maybe it's because we're in the middle of winter but that bright blue and clean white just makes me feel like easy casual summer time.  Someday when my living/dining room gets a makeover I'm going blue and white for sure.  Here are some of my favorite inspiration pictures.

E-Design: Chicago Apartment After

Yesterday I shared some before photos and the e-design I did for a client in Chicago and today I am so excited to show you the afters!  (If you missed it you can check out the before here!)

A defined dining area using the existing table and adding a graphic print rug and sleek white chairs.

A funky little coffee table!

We changed the accent wall from dark brown to Benjamin Moore- Kendall Charcoal.

I love this detail shot!

I am so excited about how this e-design turned out.  It's always fun to work with a motivated client- she completed this space in less than a month!

(I only share a few out of respect for my client)
