Get the Look: Dining Room

Lately I've had my mind on a new design for our dining room.  We have dark grey walls and dark furniture and it just doesn't suit the light and bright look that I've been moving towards in my home... but with a baby on the way in less than a month that's going to be on the back burner for a bit.  In the meantime I'll just keep pinning away!  

This dining room from Linda McDougland Design caught my eye on Pinterest.  I love how simple the design is.  It definitely fits that comfortable, easy style I want for my home. Here are a few pieces I found so you can recreate the look yourself!

Baby R's Gallery Wall

Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing some sneak peeks of Baby R's nursery as I finish it up and get ready for the big day.  The latest update to the nursery- the addition of a gallery wall.

If you remember- we don't know the gender so I am leaving the frames blank until he or she gets here.  It's a great way to have a gender neutral nursery but still be able to add some girl or boy charm once she/he gets here.

All of the frames are from Ikea and the starburst mirror set is from Target.

My best advice when doing a gallery wall is to buy more frames than you think you'll need and a lot of various sizes that way you have a lot of sizes to play with when you go to lay it out.  Nothing worse than having to make multiple trips to Ikea, especially if those trips are made on a weekend!

New Look for Olive Lane and a Summer Inspired Bar Cart

Woah, hey remember me?  Your friendly blogger at Olive Lane that dropped off for a few weeks there? I'm back!   And I have a fresh new look!  What do you think of the update? The talented ladies of Designer Blogs updated it for me a week or two back and I am loving the fresh clean look.

It's been a busy past few weeks getting ready for this baby to come.  There were a lot of home projects and general organizing going on around here.  And I had my baby shower so that led to lots of time spent organizing the baby's room and getting things washed.  Finally in the home stretch at 36 weeks today!  More to come on the baby's room later...

Today I am sharing my much needed summer time update to my living room bar cart.  When I first got the bar cart I just kind of threw anything "bar" related on it without really taking the time to style it, so un-blogger of me.  I started by clearing everything off of it and starting over to eliminate a lot of the clutter.

I love the combination of bright blue and white with yellow, especially for summer.

What's more summer than a bowl of lemons?

I added the lamp for some height as well as some light (see what I did there) since it serves as a side table to the sofa.
