Here's What...

Lately I've been looking for a big abstract piece of art for my living room but as the art gets larger, so does the price tag.  After pinning so many abstract pieces of art that I really liked, I came across this DIY abstract art tutorial from Style Me Pretty Living.  It looks easy enough and I've always found painting to be super relaxing.  I'm definitely considering giving it a try this weekend.

Um hello, I love you.  I am obsessed with the Amelia Wood Bead Chandelier from Pottery Barn.  It's the most beautiful mix of elegant and casual.  Major statement piece here.

I really enjoyed the before and after photos of this Serene Bohemian Space on Domaine Home.  The transformation is incredible and I really love the pops of red in the space.

Just bought the Clear Rosa iPhone case from Rifle Paper Co.  Why I love it?  It's sturdy.  It adds instant spring to my  phone (which I am wanting so badly).  And you can still see my gold iPhone through the case.  I didn't wait for 2 months on back order to get the gold iPhone just to cover it up!

Happy Friday!

Baby R's Nursery Plan Updated

I've been hard at work over here on Baby R's nursery.  After getting all of the neutral "big" items for the nursery, I was craving some color for my gender neutral nursery.  I love all of the white and gold in my original design but I just felt like it needed something to bring it to life.  I've been loving this sea foam green color ever since I bought this fitted crib sheet at Pottery Barn Kids.  I decided to incorporate that color into the design and that way, if it's a girl I can pair some coral colors with it later and if it's a boy I can add some light blue and grey.  A win-win!

All of the big pieces from the original design stayed (more about that here) but by adding the rug and tassel garland it definitely gave it the life and color I'd been craving...  just another pregnancy symptom :-)

I can't wait to share updated photos of the nursery as some of the new pieces start to ship.  If you follow me on instagram (@olivelaneinteriors) you'll get a few sneak peeks!

E-Design Client: Formal Living Room

It's been so long since I shared an after photo from an e-design client.  I've been sitting on a few great photos from clients that I keep meaning to share and then keep forgetting...  Forgive me friends!

This e-design was for a client that was looking for a formal, sophisticated living room and was starting with a completely empty room.  My client had recently painted and the carpet was brand new so those were the only things that stayed.

Here's a look at the E-Design I created for her... as well as the floor plan.

And here are a few photos of the final design!

Molly Sim's Home in Lonny Magazine

Lonny's March issue features some stunning photos of Molly Sim's Beverly Hills home.  It's got a really cool laid back but glamorous vibe- a tough combo to pull off but she does it perfectly.  Here are some great shots from the issue.  Read the whole article here.

I love how everything in this room feels really "grown up" and sophisticated and then the tie dye pillows instantly fun it up.

Love the pop of yellow against all of the grey in this photo.

A glamorous bar cart- really like the way the mirror is off center above the bar cart.

...And the best for last.  I love, love, love this room.  The modern Saarinen table with the soft upholstered wing back chairs and the bright chartreuse drapes- I wouldn't change a thing.

Feeling so inspired by her home here are a few affordable pieces I found that you can purchase for your own home that capture the same feel.

Here's What...

I just found out about the company, Chasing Paper that makes peel and stick wallpaper- perfect for someone who wants the look of wallpaper but isn't ready to make the commitment... or the mess aka Me!  I'm loving this ikat paper for a possible accent wall if Baby R is a girl.  Anyone use Chasing Paper before?

I made this hummingbird cake recipe from Living Well Spending Less over the weekend for a few friends we had over and it was super tasty.  I'm not a huge cake fan but this is more of a bread like consistency which I love.  Make sure you use her recipe for the brown butter cream cheese frosting- it's the best part!

So many things to love about this entryway from Bliss at Home- the graphic print on the wall, the entry table (which is the desk I use in my office) and that great animal print runner.  It's the perfect spot to try out a little animal print without it getting crazy and even better, it's a bargain from RugsUSA.  Love me a bargain rug!

I've been obsessed with sculpted towels ever since I fell in love with a few at Anthropologie.  I love how lacey and pretty they look- a great update to your bathroom for spring.  These bath towels from World Market are on sale and I'm kind of in love with them!

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm headed out off to sunny Florida today but I have a few posts planned for next week so be sure to stop back!

Carry On Essentials for a Warm Weather Getaway

It is freezing cold in Philadelphia and I am SO excited to be heading out of here to sunny Florida on Friday for a warm weather getaway/babymoon.  It's a short flight but I have some essentials that always make it into my carry on bag.

Carry On Travel Essentials for Vacation www.olivelaneinteriors.com

This Longchamp Large Le Pliage tote comes with me on every vacation.  It's perfect size for a carry on and I use it as a my beach and pool bag once I get to my destination.

Frends headphones are a must on the plane.  They sound great and they're so much more comfortable than earbuds.  Plus- they look cool.

Ok, Evian water spray sounds pretty ridiculous but I hate how dried out my skin feels when I'm on a plane.  A couple of quick spritzes of this and my face feels less like a desert.

I love using the Truffle clear pouch to keep the smaller items from getting lost in my bag and it's also great for keeping things dry and sand free once you get to the beach.

EOS lip blam... if you haven't tried it- you must.  It smells and tastes great and the shape makes it easy to find in your bag.

Why are planes always freezing cold?  Doesn't matter where I'm going- I always pack a lightweight scarf that I can wrap around me.  This one can easily transition to wearing out to dinner on those cooler nights too.

I love using a passport holder to keep all of my travel documents organized, bonus points that it's a fun color.

I always pack snacks with me when I travel and I'm obsessed with That's It bars.  They're basically two fruits mashed up into a bar together- nothing else added.  The apple + pineapple is my favorite.

The triple C power card is super slim and is perfect for recharging on the plane or in the airport.  Don't risk running out of juice on your iPad!

Alternatives to Subway Tile in the Kitchen

Who doesn't love a good crisp white subway tile in a kitchen?  It's timeless and clean looking and works with a variety of different styles.

But maybe you're looking for that little something extra.  That added oomph!  I'm not suggesting you work in some painted fruit tiles...  (yikes!)

But I've found some great alternatives to the simple white subway tile that still keep your kitchen feeling modern and clean but adds that extra design element you might be looking for.
