Here's What...

In honor of the Super Bowl this Sunday...

I am all about watching the Super Bowl from the comfort of my couch in my comfiest sweat pants.  I love these joggers from Albion Fit.  Comfort + Style = Perfection

I not so secretly watch the Super Bowl for the commercials and I am so excited to play this commercial bingo with some friends from The Flair Exchange.

I saw this recipe on Pinterst this week that takes a new twist on the classic buffalo chicken dip by rolling it up in Pillsbury crescent rolls.  Buffalo dip is a must for watching football so I'll be trying out this dip on Sunday!

And last but not least I am so excited to see Katy Perry perform during the halftime show.  I haven't been this excited since Beyonce performed!  And how cute is her pedicure she posted on Instagram this week.

Happy Super Bowl everybody!

Neutral Nursery Design

In case you missed my post last week- we're expecting our first baby in May!  We decided not to find out the gender, although now that I've started planning the nursery it's killing me not know!  My plan is to keep it really neutral with white, beiges, greys and gold so that once the baby is here we can decorate it more to that specific gender.  Over the next week or so we're installing the World Market Capiz Light and hopefully getting the walls painted in Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray.  I'll update with photos along the way!

Organized Jewelry

Organized Jewelry West Elm www.olivelaneinteriors.com

I love keeping my home organized and my jewelry is no exception.  I like to use my jewelry as decor in my home rather than packing it away in a jewelry box.  I keep my bracelets organized with a velvet bracelet stand from The Container Store.

I use the West Elm glass shadow box to display the jewelry I wear everyday.

How do you keep your jewelry organized?

E-Design Client: Entryway

Everyone loves a good before and after!  Here is an e-design I did for a client that was looking to add a cabinet with some storage to her entryway.  She simply wanted to add furniture and artwork without changing any of the paint colors.  It always helps when you are starting with a beautiful space!

She wanted a calm, soft entryway and we came up with the design below.  A cabinet that would provide some storage and a really soft abstract painting.

And here's what the entryway looks like today! A few small changes made a big impact!

Here's What...

Welcome to this weeks "Here's What"...  showcasing what I'm loving, I'm buying, I'm cooking, I'm obsessed with... you get it!

Erin Gates of Elements of Style revealed her Master Suite and I am obsessed with her bathroom.  That floor is to die for and I love the soft gold fixtures with the grey.  If this was my bathroom I'd never leave the house.

Amy of Delineate Your Dwelling created a great FREE printable 2015 calendar.  If you're like me and you waited to buy a calendar until it was actually 2015 and the selection was completely picked over then this is your calendar!  Not to mention I love it's beautiful, simple design.

I made this super easy crock pot tortilla soup from the Skinny Fork last week for dinner and it was delicious!  The ingredients were simple and healthy and it tastes as good as it looks in that picture- bonus, it actually looked like the picture when I was done.  When does that ever happen with a Pinterest recipe?!

I'm obsessed with the Braemore Jamil Natural leopard fabric because it's like leopard all grown up and modern.  I bought myself a yard to make a pillow for my office chair.  Right now it's on backorder but you can pre-order it from The Fabric Mill.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Guest Bedroom: After

Yesterday I shared with you my inspiration photos and my "before" photos of our guest room.   If you missed it- here they are in all their glory...

And now for the fun part... here's what our guest bedroom looks like today!

Guest Bedroom Bright and Clean

First the walls got a fresh coat of paint with Benjamin Moore's Manchester Tan (HC-81).

I spent one day of marathon shopping at Target and Homegoods and was able to find everything I needed!

Fresh white linens makes the space feel clean and inviting.

Guest Bedroom Pottery Barn Bedding

I was able to give this room a total makeover in just one weekend and for under $600!  I still want to add some artwork to the walls and find a spot for my sewing table but in the mean time this room is ready for guests!

Do you have any projects you've been wanting to tackle but have been putting off?  I promise it's so worth diving in and getting it done!

Guest Bedroom: Before

Since I am in full blown nesting mode I have been on a mission to complete all of the projects around the house that I've been putting off.  Before I could get started on the nursery I needed to get the guest bedroom under control.  After sleeping in the guest bedroom one night when my husband was sick I realized how much it, well... sucked.  The sheets were like paper, the lighting was terrible, and the broken headboard banged against the wall every time I moved.  My apologies to any guests we've had in the past 3 years!

An Olive Lane Exculsive!  Never before seen photos of the guest bedroom...

OK, it would probably look a tiny bit better if I had made the bed for this pic...

I don't think I'm the only one that has a neglected room like this in their house.  It's kind of like the junk drawer of rooms.  Whatever doesn't have a home- goes here!  I wanted to clean up the guest room and make it inviting but I also didn't have a huge budget for this room.

On the list of things to do was:
  • Paint
  • Headboard
  • Nightstands
  • Lamps
  • Sheets/Bedding
  • Window Treatments
I wanted the room to feel really bright and fresh and clean.  I started pinning like a mad woman and these were my top inspiration photos.

... And We're Back!

Welcome back to Olive Lane!  After a long year off from blogging I'm back and so excited to get started!  I've thought a lot about what I want this blog to be and how I want it to evolve and change so I hope you like what I have in store.  It has and will always be a home decor blog but I'd like to introduce some more "lifestyle" to the blog- just other interests I have that I know you'll enjoy as well.  Since it's been so long it only feels right that I give you a little recap of what happened in 2014.

Travel

2014 was the year of travel for us!  In May, my husband and I traveled to Italy and visited Rome and Florence.  My second time visiting Rome but my first in Florence.  We spent our days walking what felt like the entire city sightseeing and evenings having long, delicious meals.  It was definitely a trip revolving around food.

Who doesn't need a slice of pizza at 10am?

And in August we took a trip to Hawaii.  My first time there and it can only be described as paradise.  We visited Kauai and Maui during our two weeks there.  We snorkeled with sea turtles, took an open air helicopter ride, saw the sunrise on a volcano and sunned ourselves on the beautiful beaches.  On our flight home I was already trying to plan when we could go back.

The Big 3-0
In September I turned the big 3-0.. and I'm totally OK with it.  No, really I am!  I feel like my life has really come together and I think I had a better time in my late 20's than my early 20's.  I spent the day enjoying a surprise trip to the spa, wine tasting and dinner with family.

Fitness

In 2014 I really put my fitness needs first.  I started taking classes at Flywheel (which I continue to be obsessed with) and started running.  In May I ran in Philadelphia's Broad Street Run- a 10 mile run through the heart of the city.  Not being a runner prior to this year I was so proud to complete the race.  Now I totally get what people are talking about when they say "runner's high".

Wedding Bells

We finished off the year with my sister's wedding.  It was in Warren, NJ at the Stone House at Sterling Ridge and it was absolutely beautiful.  She looked amazing, the venue was perfect, the food was delicious and the band was awesome.  It was so much fun spending the night with my family and to see those two lovebirds so happy.

Coming Soon

And last but not least... there will be a new addition to our family!

Baby R is coming this May and we couldn't be more excited.  Baby is healthy and I've been feeling great so no complaints here- just lots of excitement and love!

Thank you all so much for reading my blog.  You have no idea how much it means to me to read positive comments.
