Layering Rugs on Carpet

An area rug is a great way to bring some color, pattern and life into a space- but what happens when you have wall-to-wall carpeting?  You may think you need hardwood floors to use an area rug but that is not the case!  If you have a light, neutral wall-to-wall carpet you can absolutely use an area rug to bring some excitement into your space.  I searched the whole world wide web for some great uses of area rugs on top of carpeting and I think you will be surprised how good it can look!

This neutral on neutral works because of the change in texture!

Fashion Friday : I'm a Stella & Dot Stylist!

Alt Design Summit- NYC

Next week I am attending a blogger conference, Alt Summit, in NYC.  It's a conference for bloggers of all different sorts to come together and discuss ideas and learn whats working for others as well as meet with brands with the potential to collaborate.  All in all a great networking event!  And guess where it's being held?! Martha Stewart Living Ominmedia in Manhattan!  How cool is that?  What if I run into her in the hallways?  I. Would. Die.

I am going to a sponsored dinner on Wednesday night with Hayneedle at Morimoto's- seriously? so cool.

Master Bedroom Update : Gold & White

I love to be able to swap out my bedding in the summer for something lighter and brighter.  I try to plan most of my major furniture purchases to be somewhat neutral and versatile so I can change bedding/pillows to give a room a new look without having to make major changes.  Lately I've been obsessed with the white and gold color combination and thought my bedroom would be a great place to try it out. 

I'm considering adding some black accents to the room.  Maybe some trim on the pillow cases and drapes.
